Walking for peace
I'm not a big fan of those chain emails you get. You know the ones where you have to forward it on to everyone you know to get good luck, or to help some poor sick little girl, or a dozen other reasons. (does that make me cold, heartless, and uncaring?) The ones I hate the most are when they have tacky grpahics with love-hearts and roses and things, and especially when they have really bad midi music that starts blaring as soon as I open the email. It seems that the worst of them generally originate from the USA.
This is one I got yesterday :
This man is walking the World for Peace. Please pass him on so that he can reach his destination. Say a prayer for the troops in Iraq, then pass him on to others. This is really interesting how someone did this.: He's walking around the world - via e-mail!! Pass it on so he can get there!I must admit I thought the ascii graphic walking man was sorta cool, which is partly why I posted it (there's no way I'm gonna forward it on though), but it bothers me that this person's idea of "Peace" involves saying a prayer for the troops in Iraq. How about saying a prayer for the people of Iraq? - they are the ones whose country has been gripped by war and turmoil and poverty. Or a prayer for the people of other warn-torn places like the Sudan, or Afghanistan, or West Africa? Praying for "the troops" is fine, but there's no way doing that alone and just forwarding on a stupid email is going to help in any way towards achieving world peace.
