Polyphasic sleep

Stmbled across some interesting articles on the topic of 'Polyphasic sleep' which is a technique aimed at mimimising non-REM sleep by just having several short naps spaced around a 24 hour day for a total of 2-3 hours sleep, rather than one long 8 hour sleep. From what I can see the technique has varying levels of success but it would be great if it worked, wouldn't it? I think you'd have to have a pretty flexible schedule for it to be practical though.

Some famous adherents of this technique apparently include Leonardo daVinci, Winston Churchill, Napoleon (who I've been reading a lot about recently), and Kramer from Seinfeld!
