Hollywood vs Homer

I haven’t seen the Troy movie yet so I haven’t looked at this site too closely but it looks like quite an interesting comparison between the movie and the Iliad. Check it out. For me, I’ve decided it’s not worth being too critical of Hollywood for not adhering closely to the original book or to history when making movies like this, or indeed any movie based on a book. Film is a different art-form and I’d prefer to enjoy it for it’s own sake. So I look at the differences/changes out of interest, rather than with a spirit of criticism. The Lord of The Rings trilogy and Master & Commander were other examples of this - I chose to enjoy them as a good movie rather than get bogged down in wondering why they deviated from the books.
