A senator to replace a candidate

A few weeks ago I mentioned a link to Talking With Graham, the blog of WA liberal politician Graham Kierath, which he was updating regularly during the recent election campaign. Funnily enough it seems to have gone quiet since he failed to win the seat due to preferences.

So I’ll give you another political blog to replace it, which will hopefully be a lot more interesting and long lasting than Graham’s – Senator Andrew Bartlett, of the Australian Democrats party. From a brief look through it thus far it all looks a bit dry and political (like Bartlett is now after his alcohol problems a while back) but I’m hopeful he might make it a bit more personal and give us an insight into what daily life as a federal politician is like… even if it is one from a nowadays fairly insignificant left wing minor party.

Today

Today’s been a good day. Lots of interesting patients and I even managed to get away and have lunch with one of the other doctors, despite having to deliver a baby this morning. This was the first delivery I’ve had as a result of my on-calls thus far, but everything went alright in the end, despite some anxiety about the patient.

Also even more importantly, today was my Jenni’s birthday and Owen was very excited to be able to surprise her and give her her present. Even adults’ birthdays get better when you have kids.
