Where do planes go when they die?

Fascinating post by Joel at The Bench, who has been using Google Earth to nose around some aeroplane graveyards in the US. It’s fascinating to think that places like this exist, and some within a stones-throw of residential areas and a golf course. I imagine security would be tight, but could you imagine being a kid living near a place like that and finding a hole in the fence. How cool would that be?
