Babies, Cars, and Apples

Been back for a couple of days now and it has been pretty busy. I reluctantly went back to work today and it was super hectic. Was running behind for much of the day and just when I thought I was about to catch up I was called for a birth, which put me behind again. Still managed to get home on time though, in time to meet Jenni, who had been out shopping with the boys buying a bunch of nursery stuff which was on sale - a lot of it pink :)

That’s not the only thing we’ve been buying though. Yesterday, being my first real day home, we decided to spend the day with the two boys and thought we would head to the local beachfront for lunch. On the way I decided to stop at Toyota to look at some cars. Now for several months we have been planning to get a new car, ever since I had that nasty crash in our Honda back in April. But we decided to wait until we were done travelling, after our big holiday in July/August and my trip to Uganda. Before I went we looked at a few cars and the plan was to look at a few more after I came back, maybe deciding by December. Well, although my plan was not to buy a car the first day I was back, that’s what ended up happening. We took a test drive of a Toyota Prado - both Jen and I loved the way it drove, neither of us could find anything we disliked about the car at all, and the guy offered us a pretty good trade in on our Honda. So we decided to go for it. The only problem is there are none of the colour we want in the state, so we have to wait for 4 weeks for it to arrive on a ship from Japan. But we’ve signed all the contracts so hopefully by early December we will have traded our Honda for a new Toyota Prado Grande. Can’t wait! Plus it’s one less thing on the huge list of stuff we want to get out of the way before Christmas.

The other thing I need to get is a new laptop, after my (still unpublished) adventures in Kampala. I am nearly 100% decided that I will take the plunge and go with an Apple MacBook, but may wait a week or two after ob1 directed me to a rumour site which suggested a new model may be imminent, after the release of the new Mac OS update Leopard. But already I’m sorely missing having a laptop around the house so I don’t think I’ll wait much longer than that.

Oh, and I’ve also uploaded most of my Uganda photos to my Flickr page, if anyone is interested in taking a look.
